Obituary of Fletcher Matthew Varner

Fletcher Matthew Varner Age 85, Lake Pleasant, Annapolis Co., passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay where he has been residing. Born in Lake Pleasant, he was a son of the late Aseph and Hilda (Tufts) Varner. Fletcher was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, was an original and founding member of the New Germany and Area Medical Center; he also served as a municipal councilor for his local district. Fletcher was an avid woodsman and loved the outdoors. Prior to retirement, Fletcher was employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Standard Paving. Surviving are his daughter, Wanda (Wayne) Naugler, Hebbville; sons, Steven (Ann), Bedford; Brian (Anne-Marie), Toronto; Blair (Nancy), Lower Branch; sisters, Udivilla Conrad, Simpsons Corner; Eileen Veinot and Pearl Mailman, both of Lake Pleasant; Phyllis Varner, Bridgewater; brother, Roscoe (Sharon), Upper Northfield; grandchildren, Danielle Wile, Derek Drew, Neil Varner, Matthew Varner, Jay Varner; great-grandchildren, Mattaya, Liam, Gage, Elliott, Hazel, Everly, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Ella LaVaughn (Lightfoot) Varner. Visitation 7-9 p.m., Thursday, November 17 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, November 18 in Springfield Baptist Church, Springfield. Rev. Lloyd Gillieo officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
