Obituary of June Sevilla Goulden

GOULDEN, June Sevilla – It is with tremendous grief and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and sister at the age of 70. June went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 25, 2018 while in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Brooklyn, Queens Co., she was a daughter of the late Clarence “Jack” and Marjorie (Joudrey) Dexter. June was always ready to volunteer and support those in need. She volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross, and was proud member of the team that supported Kosovans arriving in Nova Scotia at CFB Aldershot in 1999. She taught English and writing to young adults in a literacy program, and was a volunteer for countless other community focused initiatives throughout her life. June was strong in her faith and loved her church and her church family of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Parkdale-Maplewood. Regardless of the many places that their military life took her and Murray to live, she was very proud and passionate about Maplewood and always remained very connected to her ancestral area; she always called Maplewood home and was proud of her family and her roots. The family would like to thank the medical staff who helped June at the South Shore Regional Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion, and to all of her Halifax based rehabilitation team. A special thank you to Pastor Sam Jess for his spiritual support to June, Murray and family. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Murray Russell Goulden; daughters, Kimberley (Steve) Wheeler, Maplewood; Andrea (Charlie) Yoon, Toronto; sons, Mark (Deborah), Belleville, ON.; Jason (Kimberley), Tantallon; grandchildren, Chelsea, Dayna, Jack, Abby, Kenneth, Max and Sam; brothers, Leon (Donalda) Dexter, Tantallon; Lloyd (Judy) Dexter, Brooklyn; Phillip (Carol) Dexter, Sackville; brother-in-law, Ken Williams, Red Deer, AB; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Greta Williams. No visitation at the funeral home by request. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, January 29th in Emmanuel Baptist Church of Parkdale-Maplewood with Pastor Sam Jess officiating. A reception will follow in the Parkdale-Maplewood Community Hall. Internment will take place at a later date in the Parkdale-Maplewood Community Cemetery, Parkdale. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the ALS Society or Emmanuel Baptist Church of Parkdale-Maplewood. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany, where on-line condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
