Obituary of Mavis Veinotte

Mavis Arline Veinotte 88, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., passed away Friday, November 5, 2004, in Rosedale Home for Special Care, where she had been residing. Born in Newburne, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Lillian (Sanford) Corkum. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of 12. Mavis was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Union Square and a trusty member of Rosedale New Horizon's Club, New Germany. Her greatest love, after her family, was music and she enjoyed playing the organ, accordion and tambourine. She loved to cook, sew and provide a bounty of food for friends and family and would often dance her way around the house. Surviving are daughters, LaVerne Joudrey, New Germany; Linda (Arthur) Brown, Robinsons Corner; the pride and joy of her life were grandchildren, Shelly (Jeff) Langille, Barss Corner; Avan (Lisa) Joudrey, New Germany; Mercedis (Paul) MacKinnon, Upper Branch; Dana (Angie) Eagles, North River; Landis Eagles (Alice Daniels), Cherryfield; Angie Eagles (David Burlingame), Bridgewater; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Jessica, Michelle, Jennifer, Kyle, Emma, Alex and Kaitlyn; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved and loyal husband, Clinton, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage; sisters, Sadie and Ada; brothers, Clarence, Alvin, Wallace, Stanley, Naaman, Lawson, Lindsay, Enos and Doran in infancy. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Union Square, Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Union Square Cemetery, Union Square. Donations may be made to Canadian Liver Foundation, Halifax Chapter, Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or a charity of choice.
