Obituary of Nellie Crowell

Nellie Dorothy Crowell 84, of Bridgewater, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater after a brief illness. Born on March 15, 1921, in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Ellen and Jack Cowlard. Nellie immigrated to Canada in 1946 as a proud War Bride, landing at Pier 21 in Halifax. As a War Bride, Nellie continued to be active in the local and Provincial War Bride Associations until the time of her death. Nellie was also active in church activities beginning with Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Yarmouth and up to her death, continued with Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Bridgewater where she was envelope secretary for many years. Nellie, who was a wonderful person, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother is survived by her husband of 59 years, Douglas, Bridgewater; daughter, Linda (Larry) Adams, Bridgewater; son, Delma (Carol), New Minas; grandchildren, Shelley (Chris) Mosher, Tantallon; Shawn Adams, Tantallon; Ryan Adams and fiancée Anne Dauphinee, Grand Cayman Islands; Todd Crowell and his very special Tiffany Kyle and Jillian Crowell, all from Wolfville; two wonderful great grandsons, Thomas and Nicholas Mosher, Tantallon, who where the apples of her eyes. A memorial service to celebrate Nellie’s life will be held 2pm Tuesday, January 3, 2006 in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, Father Robert Coote officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or a charity of your choice. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request.
