Obituary of Lynn Sharon Cone

CONE, Lynn Sharon (Hamilton) – Age 69. It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Lynn, on the evening of July 23, 2021. Born January 10, 1952, she was the daughter of Jeanne (Young), of Richmond Hill, Ont. and the late Arthur William Hamilton. Lynn was a Canadian national award-winning artist, who had a deep love for the ocean, her life-long husband, Dr. David K Cone (married 46 years), her daughters Helen Norve (Cone), Catherine Cone, Laura Cone, and granddaughter Siri Norve, not to mention Ollie, the dog.

Patience came incredibly easy to Lynn, making her the absolute best listener to friends and family and the best owner of a stubborn terrier. She is survived by her siblings, Don, Ken, Nancy, Brenda, as well as her 99 year-old mother, Jeanne. Her passions lay in the arts, where she perfected many media forms, such as water colours, for which she won many prizes and sold out a one woman show at the Confederation Centre in PEI, paper and print making, a commissioned silk-screened collection of endangered species exhibit for the Natural History Museum in Halifax, that travelled the country for over a number of years, and encaustics. She was selected as one of the 50 Canadian artists that formed the “Young Contemporaries” and more recently focusing on highly technical embroidery.

The family will be holding a private gathering at their residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Elder Dog Canada, or the Miller Point Peace Park. Cremation has taken place and arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater, where donations and online condolences can be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneralhome.com.
