Obituary of Ernie Joseph McCauley

MCCAULEY, Ernie Joseph – Age 85 of Bridgewater, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021in the South Shore Regional Hospital. Born on June 18, 1936 in Church Point, he was a son of the late Willie and Agnes (Saulnier) McCauley.

Ernie is survived by his sons, E. Nelson (Nancy), Watford and Eldon, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Richard, Amanda, Shaun and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Madison, Michael, Lily, Alaska and Piper; siblings, Jacqueline (Bernard) Saulnier, Saulnierville; Eileen Hurshman, Queensland, Philippe, Trois-Rivières, Quebec; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his partner of 39 years, Doris Branton (2017), Bridgewater; brothers, George, Paul, Norman and Joe; sisters, Doris Cloutier and one in infancy.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. By request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A public graveside service will be held at the Western Shore Cemetery on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 11 a.m., Rev. Willis Ott officiating. In keeping with Provincial COVID-19 guidelines, masks are required and proof of vaccination with proper ID will be required to attend the graveside service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
