Obituary of Christopher David Smith
Smith, Christopher David – Chris passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, in Riverview Enhanced Living, formerly known as LaHave Manor, Dayspring. He was born on October 15, 1949 and was a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Wylie M. Smith of Bridgewater. Chris was born with Spina Bifida and the surgery performed at birth to save his life cause severe brain damage. For his first 35 years, he was lovingly cared for at home by his family. He enjoyed a special bond with the many family pets he had over the years.
In 1983, he moved to his new home at Riverview Enhanced Living, Dayspring. He quickly adjusted and his fellow residents and the amazing staff of the Triview Unit, became his new family. Chris loved to go for drives in the car. A keen “observer”, he enjoyed all the activities at Riverview Enhanced Living and the many outings and special event celebrations.
Chris was predeceased by his father, Dr. Wylie M. Smith and mother, Catherine (Kaye) A. Smith. He is survived by his brother, Sandy Smith; sister, Connie Smith (Guy); nephews, Callum Haughn (Julliette) and Jake Wentzel (Melissa).
Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. No flowers by request, but donations to Riverview Enhanced Living in memory of Chris would be much appreciated. Chris’s family would like to thank the fine staff of the Triview Unit with heartfelt gratitude for their kind, compassionate, and loving care given to Chris over the many years he resided at Riverview Enhanced Living.
