To Nathaniel, Morgen, and all of the Reinhardt family, please except my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences on the news of the sad passing of Karen (and of course Ron). I had the great pleasure of working with Karen over the years on a number of observer missions in various countries (including my own, Ireland). Karen was always a consummate professional when it came to Election Observation Missions (EOMs) and perhaps more importantly, was a thoroughly nice and kind person. May she, and Ron both rest in peace.

As we all grapple with Karen's death, my thoughts are with Karen's family, friends, and fellow volunteers.
Karen and I met through the Save Owls Head movement. Karen and I would talk for hours about campaigns from Owls Head and West Mabou Beach to Little Crescent Beach and, most recently, the Coastal Protection Act. We could (and did) sometimes disagree on tactics but never failed to have fulsome and friendly conversations, defined by mutual respect and a desire to make change.
Karen was spirited, tenacious, and a stalwart volunteer. Her involvement in environmental causes, the Red Cross, and an untold number of elections were all focused on trying to get things done for the public good. She not only believed in democracy and fairness, she devoted herself to helping to ensure it, both here at home and abroad.
She moved the needle in the Owls Head campaign in a very impressive way despite a number of pressures behind the scenes. She found and coordinated with over 50 sign volunteers from Yarmouth to Cape Breton to get the message out about Owls Head and more recently, the Coastal Protection Act. Often known as "the sign lady," I think she'd be very happy to know these signs have become a lasting part of her legacy. She loved her family, her friends, and her sign volunteers fiercely. Even in her last days and weeks, Karen remained very concerned about the government's failure to proclaim the Coastal Protection Act and there's no question that we will continue to fight on in her honour.

On behalf of the Bridgewater Baptist Church, I want to share our love and deepest condolences. On a few occasions, I had the joy of speaking with your father while walking our dog on Cresent Beach. He was kind and always had time to chat as the dogs played. We remember your family as you grief together and hold you all in prayer. Aaron and Erica Kenny, Conquerall Bank

Deepest condolences to you and your families. Karen was an incredible advocate for human rights and the environment. We admired her for her enthusiasm for the things that really matter in this world. We both also really enjoyed our conversations with Ron when we met him at the beach. He was such a well-read and intelligent individual with a great sense of humour. We are very very sad, and we wish their family all the strength there is in this difficult time. Astrid Seidel and Justin Buckley, Pleasantville

Condolences to the family,
I remember one summer day at Crescent Beach, there was a large lunch crowd in front of
the Yum-Yum Bus when Karen arrived, it wasn’t long until she realized that I was working
alone, she immediately left the line up and came in the bus and helped me until the last
customer was served.
Ronnie and Karen were kind and considerate people, they will both be missed

My thoughts are with the family of Karen & Ron. My sincere condolences. I never met Ron but I did have considerable involvement with Karen going back to 2012 when I ran for Municipal Council. She was very passionate about the municipal election process in MODL. I learned a lot from her deep experience in the democratic process. If we had a difference of opinion she would generally win out. She was so much more knowledgeable than me. I will miss her as will many folks throughout MODL. May she & Ron both rest in peace.
