Obituary of Alfred Hoorweg

HOORWEG, Alfred “Al” – Age 92, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., died on Friday, March 21, 2025, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Al was born on July 20, 1932, in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

He served in the Royal Dutch Navy on board the aircraft carrier The Karel Doorman. He immigrated to Canada in 1954. Al moved to Barss Corner in 1996 where he resided until his passing.

Surviving are his three children, Elizabeth Overland, Manotick, Ont.; Laura Hoorweg, Alberta; Anthony Hoorweg, Guelph, Ont.; nieces, Barbara Van De Winder, Desiree Brand and nephew, Daniel Van De Winder.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth.

Al’s wishes for no service will be honoured. No flowers please, donations may be made to the VON – Lunenburg County branch.
