Janet Wells

Obituary of Janet Alicia Wells

WELLS, Janet Alicia (Carter) – Age 68, of Bridgewater. Janet was born July 17, 1956, in Pembroke, Ontario, to the late George Carter, and the late Joan (Nixon) Thornhill.

She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend.

It was in Fortune, NF that Janet first met the future love of her life, Clyde. After meeting on the Rock, they eventually met again in Ontario, where they wed, moved to Nova Scotia and while raising two children, built their forever home, in Bridgewater.

Janet worked as a dispatcher for Plaza Taxi, served many cups of coffee and donuts at Tim Hortons locations in Bridgewater, and ended her career at Dollarama, in the Bridgewater Mall, before retiring to spend more time with family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clyde; daughter, Michelle (Jamie) Fralic; and son, Robert (Megan) WeIIs, grandchildren, Angelina and Lexia Wells; all of Bridgewater; sister, Mary-Jane (John) Melanson, Kingston; sister-in-laws, Connie Carter, Bridgewater, Janey Carter, Berwick, and Janet Carter, Kingston; and her fur baby Billy, who will miss her as much as the humans.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Peter, Roy, and Robert.

Janet will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, commitment and unwavering love for her family and friends. She enjoyed many things over the years - from figure skating, to bingo halls and dancing halls, and travelling to Cuba and the Dominican, where she gleefully swam with the dolphins (her spirit animal). She enjoyed socializing and was known for bringing laughter and embracing any adventure. In recent years she became fascinated with the Oak Island legend and would often visit the site just to look around, keeping track of the progress being made with finding the treasure.

In the hearts of those that knew and loved her, she will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no service or burial per Janet's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal Shelter or the Canadian Liver Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
