Obituary of John Harris Turner

 

TURNER, John “Jackie” Harris – 67, of Sweetland, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Monday, April 14th, 2025, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born June 29th, 1957, in Bridgewater, he was the son of Elsie Geneieve “GG” (Gidney) Turner and the late Harris Arthur Turner.  

 

For 50 years, Jackie was a lover of trucks, or anything with a motor. He enjoyed boating on Mush-a-Mush, as well as the ocean, and spent countless hours walking through the forests, looking at what trees should be cut or saved. Jackie loved his grandchildren, and was always looking forward to his next adventure with them on the golf cart, and at the camp. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, West Northfield; member of the MicMac Rod and Gun Club, and a former member of the Bridgewater Rifle Club. Jackie was passionate about aviation obtaining a private pilot license at an early age.  To many in the local community he was know as owner of John Turner Enterprises, and Turner and Turner Lumber Limited.

 

Jackie is survived by a loving wife, Heather Ann (Zinck); his daughters, Krista (Mark) Wilson, Milford, and Natasha (Jason) Turner, Wedgeport; grandchildren, Kaleigh and Winston Wilson, and Harrison Cottreau; mother, GG Turner; two nephews, and one niece. Jackie was predeceased by his father, Harris Turner; and sister, Karen Zinck.

 

Funeral Service will be held 11am, Monday, April 21st, 2025, in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Annette Smith and Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Interment will follow the service in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jackie’s memory can be made to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, West Northfield, or to a charity of choice.
