Obituary of Terry Alan Oickle

OICKLE, Terry Alan - We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Terry Alan Oickle, born August 16, 1953, who passed away peacefully in his home on May 4, 2025, at the age of 71. He was predeceased by his parents, Kendall ‘Sam’ and Joyce Eileen (Jodrey) Oickle.

Growing up in Stanburne, he attended a one room schoolhouse, which he and his siblings would have to walk to. When Terry finished school, he went to work in his father’s sawmill in Stanburne, where he worked for over 30 years. He had a bit of a reputation for squealing his tires through New Germany or perhaps a “fast run” up the Lake road. He really admired muscle cars, especially Chevys. Terry always had a passion for guns. In the late 80’s he opened Hadley’s Gun Shop in the basement of his home with his long-time friend, Shawn Hadley.

Terry was a member of the Parkdale/Maplewood Tug-of-War team which often won 1st place. He enjoyed playing hockey and pitching fastball. It was through his trips to the hockey arena where a certain girl sitting in the bleachers caught his eye. She was The One!

He was immensely proud of the three children they raised. He gave them love and support during their childhood and into their adult lives. They always knew he would be there to help if they needed a hand. Terry liked going into the woods, whether it was with his Husqvarna to cut some wood, or to check on his hunting buddy, Darryl “Buck” Boland.

His grandkids were his absolute pride and joy. He watched them play sports, took them on the four-wheeler, and attended many birthday parties. He would always have something for them, and they knew it. They loved and adored their grandfather.

Terry is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Looke); sons, Corey (BJ Corkum-Oickle), Mark (Melissa Pick); daughter, Emily (Chris Hubley); his 6 pride and joys, grandchildren, Samuel, Jax, Jacob, Jovi, Alana and Emmet; brothers, Gary (Marie), Larry (Liana), Neil (Becky), Noel; sisters, Sharon (Ron Everest), Debbie Reeves (Dale Bezanson); along with many nieces and nephews.

A Reception in Celebration of Terry’s life will be held Monday, May 12, 2025, from 6 – 8 p.m., in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York St., Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, New Germany.

“Terry will always be remembered as a loving husband, a fantastic father and a caring grandfather. He made a lasting impression with his humorous wit, candid opinion and charming smile. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by everyone that knew him”
