Obituary of Agnes Neil Chambers

In Loving Memory of Agnes Neil Chambers (née Park)
1943 - 2025

With profound grief, we announce the passing of Agnes Neil Chambers (née Park) of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.  Surrounded by love, she passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at the Valley Hospice in Kentville, Nova Scotia, at the age of 81. Affectionally known as “Nan”, she will be dearly missed by her family, friends, neighbours, and her faithful little dog, Lucky.

Born in 1943, in Stevenston, Scotland, Nan emigrated to Canada in 1964, initially settling in and around the Toronto area of Ontario.  Fiercely independent, strong-willed and full of life, she lovingly raised two daughters on her own before relocating to Nova Scotia in 1985.  Reunited with her true soulmate, Ron, she remarried and embraced a new chapter of life, love and family. Nan and Ron later retired to East Dalhousie, where she thrived – fearlessly taking on new challenges, cultivating a rich and joyful life.  After settling in Bridgewater, she remained a passionate gardener, proudly crediting her green thumb to her grandfather. She delighted in baking, preserving, and sharing her creations generously with loved ones and neighbours.

She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret Henderson Newall (Johnston), William Park and stepfather William Muir Newall; her loving husband, Ronald Joseph Chambers; and brother, Thomas Muir Newall. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Karen (Steve) and Debbie (Doug); step-daughter, Sherry (Bert); sister, Marilyn Cumming (John); grand-daughter, Jillian; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. At Nan’s request, no formal service will be held. A gathering in celebration and remembrance of her life will take place at a later date.

Nan’s daughters would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at the Valley Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness during her final days. Your support brought comfort during an incredibly difficult time.

In memory of Nan, donations to the Valley Hospice Foundation are gratefully welcomed to support their vital work in providing dignity, compassion, and peace at the end of life. The staff at the Valley Hospice in Kentville were not only professional, but deeply kind, gentle, and attentive—offering a level of care that was both heartfelt and profoundly human. The environment itself was peaceful, warm, and comforting, allowing Nan to spend her final days surrounded by love and grace. For families facing the most difficult of times, this kind of support is not just important, it is essential. Contributions made in Nan’s memory will help ensure that others can experience the same level of comfort and care in their own time of need.
