Obituary of Carol Anne Zinck

ZINCK, Carol Anne - Age 84 of Bridgewater, NS. Passed away peacefully at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, on May 14, 2025, with her family by her side.

Carol was born and raised in Toronto. When she was just 18, she met the love of her life, James (Jim) Zinck, and later married in 1958. Together they worked their whole career as a team, running several businesses in Toronto, ON and Nova Scotia. Most notably the Candy Centre in downtown Bridgewater for 10 years, starting in 1978, followed by the Famous Turkey Burger, in Cookville, from 1989-2007. It is at these businesses where they formed many lasting friendships and made many memories. They loved what they did and were good at it.

Carol loved her family. She loved getting together on holidays and special occasions. As a young family, they always enjoyed family road trips back to Nova Scotia, and later in retirement, her and Jim loved to hit the road to just about anywhere on a shopping spree. Cardinals held a special place in her heart; she loved seeing them come to her multiple bird feeders.

Carol is predeceased by her parents, Doris and Bill Tod; her first born son, David Zinck; and most recently, her son-in-law, Greg Lohnes. Carol is survived by her loving husband, James (Jim) Zinck, of 66 years; son, Tod (Stacey) Zinck, daughter, Bari Christine Zinck; grandson, Zac Zinck; granddaughter, Olivia Zinck; brother, Barry Lavender; niece, Hart Lavender; and her special sunshine cat, Punk.

No services by request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.

“A special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff for their exceptional care at this difficult time.”
