Obituary of Delilah May Lowe
LOWE, Delilah May - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Delilah Lowe (nee Townsend), our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on Thursday May 15, 2025, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She was born on May 1, 1939, in Lydgate, Nova Scotia.
As a teenager she took the train to Montreal to work in Westmount. Later returning to Nova Scotia, Delilah moved to Bridgewater to work at the Dawson Memorial Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide in 1959. She met her husband, Cedric Lowe, of 63 years, during this period. She showed unconditional love to her family, everyone she met throughout her life, and especially enjoyed spending time with children. Delilah was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater and blended her strong faith with her love of children by teaching Sunday school classes for 11 years. She also was one of the first Beaver leaders for Scouts Canada in Bridgewater. Delilah was an ACW (Anglican Church Women) member almost as long as she attended Holy Trinity; over 45 years. As well, she volunteered at the annual pudding factory for 25 years at Holy Trinity. Delilah’s volunteer work was endless; she could often be found spending hours in the community of Hebbville canvassing for multiple charities. Besides her husband, Cedric; she is survived by her daughters, Teena (Terry), Suzette (Harry); grandchildren, Tara (Matt), Kory (Tamara); great-grandson, Wyatt; sisters, Muriel and Leola; brother, Lyall; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Carol, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Delilah was predeceased by her parents, Murray Townsend and Myrtle (Stephens) Townsend; brothers, William Townsend and Ivan Murray Townsend; brothers-in-law, Wilfred Chetwynd and Robert Bradley.
