Obituary of Robert "Bob" Allan Stewart

It is with a profound sense of sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Allan Stewart of Maplewood, born April 10, 1949, in Richmond, B.C.

To label Bob in a specific light would certainly not do him justice. Bob was a licensed auto mechanic. He scored the highest marks in his class, a record which to date has not been broken. He was a licensed scuba diver and a baker with bakeries throughout Richmond and Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Bob was a jack of all trades when it came to carpentry and contract work. He rebuilt his home after a fire swept through his previous home here in Maplewood approximately 20 years ago. Bob was also a mentor to his children, his co-workers, and those who needed help with any job with which they were involved. Bob and his excavator were always on call.

Bob was a man of few words, but if you found his weakness in life, (telling his life escapades), he would talk the ear off you. His stories were endless, including the time it took for him to tell you the story.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Laura and Howard Stewart; his brother, Gordon, and his foster brother William Lavallee. He leaves to mourn his partner, Esther Bourgeois; daughters, Farah and Kirsti; sons, James and Robbie; grandchildren, Molly, Violet and Mason; stepsons, John and Jason (Kelly) Murphy; step grandchildren, Kennedy and Carter Murphy, as well as cousins, throughout Nova Scotia, Ontario, and British Columbia.

A special tribute is made to Bob’s Aunt Shirley, aka Grandma Shirley, who has been at his side throughout his life.

A Celebration of Life will take place on May 27, 2025; from 5 to 7 p.m., in the Hennigar Room, Mahone Bay Centre, School Street. A further Celebration of Life will take place in Magnetawan for his family and friends. Bob’s ashes will then be laid to rest with his parents.

A very special thank you to all of Bob’s Oncology Doctors and staff at the QEII, Dickson Centre, Bridgewater Immunotherapy Clinic, Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, Palliative Care and M.A.I.D.

Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater where online condolences may be made by visiting www.sweenysfuneral home.com
