Obituary of Heather Ann Fifield
FIFIELD, Heather Ann – Age 82, of Bridgewater. It is with sadness that we share news of the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Heather Fifield, who after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on May 3rd passed away surrounded by the love of her family on June 3rd, 2025, at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
Heather was Executive Secretary for the South Shore Regional School Board until her retirement in 2002. For the next several years she continued to offer her professional skills as a volunteer by serving as president of the Drumlin Hills Tenants’ Association, a family advocate on the Harbourview Haven Nursing Home Family Council, a care-giver advocate on the Canadian multi-university research project and program “Translating Research in Elder Care” (TREC), and sitting on the provincial advisory committee that resulted in the launch of Nova Scotia’s first dementia-care strategy in 2015. Almost all of this work coincided with her ongoing support and care of her husband and our father, Doug Fifield, who passed away in 2017, after living with dementia for close to 20 years. Heather was with her beloved Doug when he died in 2017. He was her high school sweetheart, husband, and greatest love of more than 60 years.

Heather leaves a legacy of love for her grandchildren whom she adored and always stayed in touch with, Brinna Leary, William Leary (Rachel MacNeil); former daughter-in-law, Shawna Ransome; grandsons, Matthew Fifield (Emma Giglio), Joshua Fifield (Nathaniel Pelley), Dean Coreschi, Reid Coreschi; and special family friend, Bev Langley who provided much caring and support to mom and our family over the years.
Heather also leaves to mourn her loving partner of five years, Felix Hachey; her, sister-in-law, Reta Misener, with whom she has shared so much; and her caring and ever-constant ‘Group of Seven’ girlfriends, Carole MacLaren, Muriel Hiltz, Mary Lou Bolivar, Marilyn Bolivar, June Joudrey, and the late Melba Ernst.
Heather is also survived by her caring and extended Fifield family, Jim, Beatrice and family; Mike, Shelly and family; Ronnie, Maureen and family; Gail, Phil and family; the families of Marilyn, and the late, Don Topping; and of the late, Robert ‘Bobby’ Fifield.
Heather was the last member of her own immediate family. Besides her husband, Heather was predeceased by her mother and father, Nathan and Margaret (Williams) Misener; loving mother and father-in-law, Mary and James Fifield Sr.; sisters, Evelyn (Lewis) Ross, Margie (Harold) Peverill, Betty (Victor) Savary; brothers, William ‘Billy’ (Reta) Misener and David (Doris) Misener, will all be welcoming her into heaven. Heather is survived by many Misener family nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, beginning at 2:30 pm, at Bridgewater United Church, with Reverend Neil McEwen officiating.
