Obituary of Laila Patricia Glanville

GLANVILLE, Laila Patricia - Age 85, of Petite Riviere, NS, passed away peacefully on June, 4, 2025, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She was born on May 14,1940, in Carterton, England, and grew up in Leith, Scotland. She was the daughter of RAF Flight Lieutenant, Alan Blyth and Johanna (Falck) Blyth.

Laila emigrated with her husband, John to Dundas, Ontario - arriving in Montreal, in 1967. She worked as a physiotherapist in Milton, Ontario, prior to moving to Petite Riviere, NS, in 1981. Laila and John operated Linden Lodge Bed and Breakfast for several years. Laila worked as a physiotherapist at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, and Veteran’s Care Facility, in Lunenburg. She was a member of the Bridgewater United Church and the West Side United Church, in Pentz. Laila also volunteered for several years at the South Shore Regional Library, South Shore Corale and Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her loving husband, John; twin daughter, Joanne (Darren) Dauphinee, twin son, Jeremy (Carolyn) Glanville; son, Jay Dickon (Tamara) Glanville; grandchildren, Katie (Tony) Dominguez, Emily Dauphinee, Liam Glanville (Julia Stone); and several relatives in the UK.

Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. If so inclined, memorial donations may be made to Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, Bridgewater, the West Side United Church or The Stephen Lewis Foundation. Many thanks go out to the staff on the coronary floor, at the QE2 Hospital, and the staff on the surgery floor, at the South Shore Regional Hospital (namely Dr. Chiasson, Dr. Edmunds, Heather, Melissa, Louise and Judy). You answered all of our questions with patience and kindness.
