Obituary of Phyllis May Himmelman

HIMMELMAN, Phyllis May – Age 97, of Mount Pleasant, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay, where she had been residing. Born in Pleasantville, she was daughter of the late Stephen Paul and Eveline Gertrude (O’Leary) Lantz.

Surviving is her son, Garth Himmelman, Mount Pleasant; daughter, Helen Himmelman; foster sons, Gerald Hirtle and Roger Hirtle; brother, Lloyd Lantz; grandchildren, Lynn Aulenbach, Dwayne Hirtle, Shawn Hirtle, Garth Hirtle, Nathan Hirtle, Michelle Shikatani, Charlene Maund; many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edson; son, Ronald; foster son, Ivan Hirtle; sisters, Gladys Rhodenizer, Emily Conrad, Pearl Schofield, Luetta Joudrey, Arleen Brown; brothers, Charles Lantz, Gordon Lantz.

Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2025, in Pleasantville Baptist Church, Pleasantville. Pastor Tom Summers officiating. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the IWK Health Centre or Canadian Cancer Society. Private family burial will follow in Poplar Ridge Cemetery, Baker Road, Mount Pleasant. Reception to follow in Pleasantville Fire Hall, Pleasantville.
