Obituary of Charles "Chuck" Edward Kirkby

March 22, 1935 – August 19, 2025

KIRKBY, “Chuck” Charles Edward – Age 90, of Mahone Bay, formerly of New Germany. After a long fight with cancer and struggling with dementia, we are sad to announce the death of Chuck Kirkby, who passed away at the Mahone Bay Nursing Home, where he had been living for the past year. He fought until the very end, not wanting to give up on life. If it wasn’t for the prostate and bladder cancer, he would have lived to be a hundred.

He leaves behind his loving and caring wife of 36 years, Paulette Rees; his daughter, Kathy Kirkby; son, Kevin Kirkby; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; three sisters; and a younger brother.

Born in Kerns Township (New Liskeard), Ontario, a veteran, who served in the Air force for several years, he then became a long-haul truck driver. He loved the open road, independence, and ‘trucker’ lifestyle. He drove for Shell, Trimac, and several other companies for over 50 years until retiring at the age of 81.
