Obituary of Rossie Blanche Medicraft

Medicraft, Rossie Blanche – 92, of Springfield, died September 7th, 2025 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, with her family by her side. Born on January 12th, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Obediah and Marguerite Arenburg.

Family was very important to Rossie, she cared deeply about each and every one. But, her pride and joy were her grandsons and great grandchildren. Any time spent with them brought her great happiness, and she was always excited to display new photos.

She was an avid knitter, not only for family and friends, but donated countless baby outfits and blankets to the SSRH gift shop.

Rossie was also well known in her community for her exceptional baking skills, including countless birthday and wedding cakes, and not to mention "best fudge ever". She was also a cake decorating instructor for her local 4H. She worked in various jobs throughout her early years, but retired from a long career as a mail driver for Canada Post and rarely missed a delivery, regardless of the worst possible weather and road conditions.

Left to mourn are sons, Larry (Elizabeth) Medicraft and David Medicraft, both of Springfield; daughter, Nancy (Blair) Varner, Kingston; grandchildren, William “Bill” (Melanie) Medicraft, Lantz, and Jay (Sarah) Varner, Woodville; great-grandchildren, Sarah Medicraft, Everly Varner, Emelia Varner, and Brooks Varner; sisters, Florence Rhynard, Falkland Ridge, and Linda (Fred) Baxter, Springfield; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Rossie was predeceased by her husband, Marcel Medicraft; sister, Daisy Veinotte; and brother, Chester Arenburg.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will take place in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial Service will be held at 1pm, Friday September 12, 2025, in Springfield Baptist Church, Springfield, with Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Following the service, all are welcome to a reception at the Springfield Fire Hall from 2-4pm. Family flowers only. Donations in Rossie’s memory may be made to the Springfield Baptist Church, Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Springfield Fire Department, or the New Germany and Area Medical Center.

The family would like to thank the staff at South Shore Regional Hospital Emergency Department, and Soldiers Memorial Hospital Medical and Transitional Care Units for their compassion and kindness during their care for Rossie. The family extends a special thanks to Kim and Natasha for their exceptional home care and kindness to Rossie, which allowed her to remain at home longer.
