Obituary of Anton Eber Aspnes Jensen
JENSEN, Anton Eber Aspnes – Age 75, of Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a valiant battle with lung cancer.
Born in Halifax, June 10, 1950, he was the eldest son of the late Ottar Andreas (Aspenes) Jensen and Mona Christabel (Shankle) Jensen.
Surviving are his siblings, Randolph (Florence) Jensen, Dartmouth; Arthur (Barbara) Jensen, Simpsons Corner; Julia (Dave) Ricketts, Lumsden Pond; Roy (Margie) Jensen, Upper LaHave; Karen Jensen, Bridgewater (partner, Barrie Brenton, deceased); several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Frances Feindel (her partner, Charles Robar, Farmington); step-brothers, Eilif Aspenes, Sweden and Magnus Aspenes, Norway.
As a young man, Anton spent many years at sea fishing. He was well travelled doing this trade before changing to working on land. He was very proud of being able to quit smoking and drinking. He spearheaded AA meetings, both on Zoom and local venues, and had a close AA family who were in constant touch with him. He was also involved in the Peer Advocate meetings, Ending Homelessness meetings and Affordable Housing Action Team meetings with members from his US community. Anton was also an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Canadiens fan.
By request, there will be no visitation or service. Private interment will take place in Middle LaHave Cemetery, Middle LaHave. No flowers please, donations may be made to a local branch of Alcoholics Anonymous, a charity that Anton supported wholeheartedly, or a charity of choice.
