Elizabeth Anderson

Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Anderson

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Anderson, who passed away at the age of 86, in the Halifax Infirmary on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

Betty was born in the former Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater on July 31, 1939; she was the daughter of the late Alfred Herman and Mary Elizabeth (Hiltz) Bezanson.

At the age of 18, Betty joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a Fighter Control Operator until 1965, when the forces amalgamated, where she enjoyed travelling to new places. Betty then returned home from overseas with an honourable discharge. Betty then enrolled in a book-keeping course and worked for Dominion Stores until the company was sold. Following this, she enrolled in a security course and worked at Pearson International Airport, Toronto, after taking a job with the RCMP. She then took an early retirement and moved back home to Nova Scotia, where she spent the rest of her days in her beautiful home in Chester Basin.

Betty was a fun, quick witted, beautiful person inside and out. She gave the best hugs and always wanted the best for all her friends and family. She loved her church community and helped people in any way she could. Betty was a fighter to the end, and her positive attitude was a true inspiration to all the lives she touched.

Surviving is her last sibling, sister, Idella Matilda Burger, of Berwick; along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Sarah Jane (Hiltz) Bezanson, Mary Gwendaline Daniels, Helen Elsie Mae Corkum; brothers, Alfred Herman, Henry Hallet, Ernest Parker Franklyn, and Eric Isaiah Eaton.

Raised by William Austin and May Olive (Barkhouse) Bezanson; cousins who were like brothers and sisters to her, Leone Bennett, Ida Hiltz, Maurice, Donald, Merlin, Allister and Morley.

By personal request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025, in St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church, The Forties. Rev.
