Obituary of M. Douglas "Doug" Drysdale
M. Douglas Drysdale
1932 – 2025
DRYSDALE, Melvyn Douglas “Doug” – Age 93, of Kentville, formerly of Bridgewater. Doug left on a new journey from Valley Hospice, in Kentville on Saturday, Nov. 1st, 2025, having received loving care from the staff there. Doris and Heather were with him, and Keith and Dorothy arrived to take part in the leaving ceremony. Music was played, candles were held, and goodbyes were said as Doug left the building.
Doug leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Doris; son, Keith (Dorothy); daughter, Heather (Harvey); grandson, Kalin; granddaughter, Dani (Bill); and great-grandsons, Theo and Adrian.
He was employed for 38 years with Imperial Oil, retiring at age 55. This allowed him more time to care for his flower beds, and travel to countries around the world. Doug was always willing to tell stories of working in Venezuela and Jamaica and being a “stubble jumper”, from Saskatchewan, to anyone who would listen. He was proud of his family and willing to help if needed.
He will be missed by all but is leaving us with good memories of wonderful times.
There will be a private family and friends gathering for Doug at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Valley Hospice Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
