Obituary of Wayne Charles Tompkin
TOMPKIN, Wayne Charles – Age 83, of New Elm, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, with his family by his side. He was referred to as ‘Bamp’ by many who loved him dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna (Himmelman); son, Kim (Dawn Uhlman); as well as grandson, Kyle (Sarah); great-grandson, Wyatt; and granddaughter, Hollee (Justin Lowe); mother, Goldie Martin (Tompkins); sister, Linda (Fred Salek); and Myles Zinck who is considered his best friend and family.
He is predeceased by his adoptive parents, Dean Tompkin and Gertie Deveau; his brother, Donnie Wynacht; and his beloved dogs, Todd, Copper, Winchester, and Hunter.
Wayne worked for the Department of Transportation for 31 years, beginning in 1971 as a loader operator. Wayne’s true passion was for hunting and fishing on weekends with his best friend Myles, and/or family by his side, particularly Kyle out on the boat with ‘Bamp’. Favorite memories, which they will cherish forever, include taking the grandkids to Upper Clements Wildlife and Water Park, the dances to country classics in the living room, and the great stories he told.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Public graveside service will be held 3 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2025, in Hillside Cemetery, New Elm. Rev. Willis Ott officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
