I am so sorry to hear of Joel’s passing. Joel and I went to high school together and, as is so often the case, I had no idea in which direction life took him until I heard of his passing. I will remember him as a kind and funny, trumpet-playing teenager. I am thinking of his family and friends during this sad and difficult time.

RIP Moose. It's been a long time but never far from mind. Those years in school becoming paramedics together made us close regardless of the distance and I am so shocked and devastated to hear of your death. The road wasn't always smooth for you but you kept rockin and trying to be your best. Gonna miss you brother.

I’m so sorry to hear of Joel’s sudden passing, I worked with Joel years ago and we were lucky enough to be part of some major life milestones through the years, I have many fond memories with Joel. He and Marissa made the journey to Mexico when Naomi was just a little bag to be part of our wedding- memories I will always cherish.
Rest in peace, Joel.

Joel, I am saddened and shock to hear of your sudden passing. Although we are provinces away, I always felt we were good friends. From the college days to life as paramedics, you were always kind and fun to hang with. I kept saying I will come visit you in the east coast, I meant it but now I regret not doing it sooner. I’m glad to have known you but I’ll definitely miss you, moose man! Rest easy, brother.

You can speak with someone a thousand times without noticing how close you've become. Then as quick as a light comes on, a friendship is realized. But often, you you don't feel the true strength of that light goes out.
Rest easy, my friend. Your memory will live on.

My first term employment with EMCI was with you Joel. For over a year, we had some great times at work and all of a sudden a friendship developed. I have lost friends in my life but this stings……. I will miss our fist bumps in the hallway at the hospital and your music you were so proud of. Rest easy my friend and watch over you beautiful children from above.

Quite simply? I don't want this to be true. I am only a year older than he was. His death really hits me hard and I just hope and trust his kids have a "good" Christmas - despite their circumstances now.
So many memories of attending National Music Camp (Salvation Army) at Jackson's Point Camp. One particular memory is where he was "encouraging" the guys to come to breakfast one day in to-gas. I was embarrassed and timid of the suggestion and following through with the request. I can't remember the exact number of years he did this but it was an annual "nudge" by him.
Our paths have gone different spots - as he was out east and I am in the Greater Toronto Area. However, over the 20 - 25 years, we have been engaged in teasing about the Toronto Blue Jays (as he was a fan and I was a fan of the opposition being the New York Yankees) and our collective love for the Toronto Maple Leafs and usually venting about decisions on the roster.
Joel's death has taught me to keep sharing love and remind others of their importance to me - because life can change in an instant! I am grateful that he was a Christian and can rest knowing he's in the arms of Jesus
