Obituary of Glenn Edwin Churchill Welsh
WELSH, Glenn Edwin Churchill - came into the world on December 22, 1941, at Back Centre, Lunenburg County. He passed away at Rosedale Home for Special Care, in New Germany on Friday, December 6, 2025, with family present after a battle with cancer.
He was the middle child of the family. Predeceased by his parents, Randall and
Beatrice (Evans) Welsh; as well as his two older brothers, Carson and Vincent.
He is survived by his sisters, Carolyn (Silver-Crouse) and Barbara, as well as wife Joan (Leslie); children, Andrea, Stephen, Sam and several grandchildren.
Glenn spent his formative years in the woods and on the shore of the LaHave River, just down from the ferry in East LaHave. He showed an interest in music at an early age, but not the practice side of it. Instead of practicing piano like his sister Carolyn, he much preferred being outside roaming the Bear Hills with his dog, Chipper. As he aged, he found guitar more to his liking as a main instrument. He also played accordion and harmonica, but he shined singing and playing his guitar. His musical repertoire ranged from the Beach Boys and Buddy Holly to a myriad of gospel singers. Later in life, performing as a soloist in various churches was his main interest. His belief structure was a mainstay of his life choices. As a person of integrity, he was part of union contract negotiations often chosen for leadership roles in the work place, from the Riverport Fish Plant to the hard-board plant in East River, where he worked for over thirty years. He filled leadership roles at some of the churches he was involved in. He was also a supporter of ministry to inmates at the former local county jail for several years. His connection to his faith and music kept him going as his health declined in the last months of his life. When his memory was failing, to keep his positive energy up, one of the last songs he played on the keyboard was Jingle Bells. We could all take a lesson from Glenn about the joy that music brings to everyone.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Impact Church, #2573 Highway 325, Oakhill. If you are so inclined to make a donation, the Impact Church, Oakhill, and Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany are the suggested charities.
