Obituary of James "Jim" David Zinck

ZINCK, James “Jim” David - Age 87 of Bridgewater, NS, passed away peacefully at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, on Dec 14th, 2025. He was the son of the late, William and Mabel (Weagle) Zinck.

Jim was born and raised in Bridgewater. In his early 20's, he decided to go to Toronto to find work and that is where he met the love of his life, Carol Anne Zinck. They married shortly after and were married 67 years. Together they worked as a team, owning and operating several businesses in Toronto and Nova Scotia. Most notably the Candy Center in downtown Bridgewater for 10 years starting in 1978, followed by the famous Turkey Burger in Cookville, from 1989 - 2007.

Jim loved his family, his home, and his cat, “Punk”. Jim's favorite time of year was Christmas, and most any holiday or special occasion, where he would cook, entertain, reminisce and tell stories, never missing a detail. He loved shopping, especially finding a bargain. Jim and Carol enjoyed many years of retirement, hitting the road and doing what they loved, whether it being taking in a show, having a good meal, shopping, or just spending time together.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol; his son, David; and several brothers and sisters. Jim is survived by his son, Tod (Stacey) Zinck; daughter, Bari Christine Zinck (late Gregory Lohnes); grandson, Zac Zinck; granddaughter, Olivia Zinck; his special cat, “Punk”; as well as sisters, Junie and Linda.

No service by request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
