Obituary of Jean Leila Conrad

CONRAD, Jean Leila - Age 90 of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully at Shoreham Village, Chester on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Born in Blockhouse, December 23, 1935 she was the daughter of  the late Elvin and Leila (Ernst) Joudrey.

Jean had a flair all of her own both in fashion and entertainment. She enjoyed  her role as a Teller at the BMO in Mahone Bay until she met the love of her life Gerry whom she married on October 4, 1958. She chose to leave her career so she could stay at home and raise her two sons, Gary and Michael.

Jean had a fulfilling life as a dedicated member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, including a 50-year service to the choir and a valued member of the ACW. Her many hours of service and devotion volunteering in her beloved church community will never be forgotten.

Jean will be remembered as The Avon Lady in Red. She loved her customers and enjoyed serving them for over 40 years. She simply adored the beauty and joy of the holiday seasons, especially Christmas. She and Gerry created a magical Christmas every year. Jean’s greatest joy, however, was that of her grandchildren. From taking them on day trips to see a movie in Halifax to playing cards in the back yard these memories will always be cherished. She loved spoiling them with treats and treasures, gifts of time, love and lots of laughter.

Surviving are her children, Gary (Marsha Jeffers), Red Deer AB., Michael, Halifax; her grandchildren, Meredith (Dean) Sanders, Blackfalds AB., Gary, Red Deer AB., Ryland, Toronto ON.; her sister, Marie Whittaker, Nanaimo, BC.; along with many nieces and  nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Conrad; her brother, Fred Joudrey; and her sister, Lucille Goswell.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday January 6th  in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 78 Alexandra Ave., Bridgewater, with Rev. Simon Davies officiating. Private family interment to take place at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Reception and time to gather will follow at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Hall.

Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater.
