Obituary of Esther Mae Robar
ROBAR, Esther Mae - Age 87, of North River, Lunenburg Co., passed away quietly with her loving family by her side on Friday, January 9, 2026, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River on May 25, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred Stanley and Mary Gertrude (Sarty) Robar.
Esther was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North River where she sang in the choir, served many years on church council, the worship committee and as a Sunday school teacher. Esther worked in various retail and restaurant locations within Bridgewater and the Annapolis Valley, but prior to retiring, she had worked many years as a store clerk for the former Stedman’s Department Store, New Germany.
Surviving is her sister, Janet (Donald) Doucette, North River; brother Paul (Judy) Robar, North River; 5 nephews, 5 nieces, 8 great-nephews, 12 great-nieces, 2 great-great nephews and 2 great-great nieces.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her companion of many years, Gordon “Joey” Mader; sister, Ruth Veinot and Florence Acker; brother, Marcus; nephews, Adam Doucette and Mervin Veinot.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, January 15, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, #4895 Route 10, New Germany. Service of Remembrance will be held 2 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2026, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North River. Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or a charity of choice.
