What a beautiful tribute to a truly remarkable man. Reading this brings back such warm memories of the few times I had the privilege of interacting with Waldo. He was the absolute definition of a community elder—someone whose presence instantly brought a sense of history, kindness, and genuine joy.
It’s amazing how his spirit continues to ripple through the community. Even now, when I’m chatting with folks down at the LCLC after a swim, Waldo’s name comes up so naturally. Someone will mention New Germany or a local music jam, and inevitably someone says or I mention, "Did you know Waldo?" Before you know it,people are smiling, remembering his legendary, hearty laugh, his music, or how he’d give you the shirt off his back.
Even though I only crossed paths with him a few times, he left a lasting impression on me. He was a masterclass in how to live a good, full life with a generous heart.
My thoughts are with all of his family as you gather at Epworth United Church this Tuesday. He leaves behind such a beautiful legacy.

We’re so sorry to learn of Waldo’s death. He was a lovely, kind man. I have many fond memories of chatting with him about farm life, whether it was ailments that afflict cattle or cougar sightings. His music will be missed also. Our deepest sympathies to all the family for the loss of both Waldo and Ruby. Lovely generous and kind people. Waldo led a good long life with Ruby and the rest of the family. They were the kind of people that one was just glad to know they were there.

Waldo indeed was a "special guy" i have fond memories of he and my Dad (Ronald) going fishing with me for Grey Trout on Sherbrooke Lake on our pontoon boat. I did not fish, to busy making hot dogs and snacks on board while these two guys told stories about good old days and their past experiences. His laugh was contagios and I never met him without that big grin. He was a "Dandy" and will be missed by family and friends ,but never forgotten.

To the Ernst and Morton family - we extend our condolences to you on Waldo's passing. He was one of the kindest, friendliest, and happiest people we've known. You were blessed to have him in your lives (as was your mom Ruby) for so many years! He was a good friend to so many in the surrounding communities and anyone who heard him play or sing appreciated his talent. We hope your memories bring you peace in your loss. Sincerely, Becky Langille and Neil Oickle.

My condolences to all the family members grieving the loss of Waldo. I had a few interesting conversations with him about musical instruments when I would drop off or pick up the latest genealogy items he was trading back and forth with my mom (Marlean). It was always a pleasure to chat with Waldo. I know he will be greatly missed. Donna Rhodenizer
