Obituary of Marylee Fry
Marylee Fry, née Mary Elizabeth Wells MacLean, born July 24, 1935, passed away peacefully on the evening of January 16, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Marylee was predeceased by her parents, Kathleen and Clyde MacLean of Amherst, and her beloved brother Rod. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 65 years, Craig. She is also survived by her cherished children Andrea, Graham (Kim), and Eric (Dawn); her adored grandchildren Christopher, Brendan (Ocea), Evan, Jordan, Colin, and Lauren; and her treasured great-grandchild Bennett.
Born and raised in Amherst, Marylee carried her Maritime roots proudly throughout her life. She attended Mount Allison University before beginning her early working years in Montreal and Halifax. She later embraced her most loved and important role — homemaker and mother — dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her family. Marylee was a consummate hostess who delighted in opening her home to friends and family, creating gatherings filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.
She enjoyed a game of bridge with her friends and many summer family camping trips. Marylee also found joy in giving back through her volunteer work with Welcome Wagon and her involvement in her local investment club.
Marylee treasured summers at the Shore in Tidnish during her younger years. Later, many fun family holidays were spent in Margaree, where time with her children and grandchildren became some of her most treasured moments.
A kind and gentle soul, Marylee formed deep and lasting friendships wherever life took her. She cherished her loyal circle of friends and remained connected to them throughout the years. She loved traveling internationally and in retirement she enjoyed life in Bridgewater and Bedford.
Marylee will be remembered for her warm smile, grace, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the beautiful memories she created.
There will be a private graveside service in Bridgewater (Hebbville Cemetery). A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 p.m., at 120 Southgate Drive in Bedford on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
