Obituary of Elizabeth Ann-Marie Whynot
Elizabeth Ann-Marie Whynot passed away on March 2, in her 77th year, at South Shore Regional Hospital.
Liz was born and raised in East Chester and remained closely connected to her family throughout her life. She was predeceased by her parents, Irving and Beatrice (née Corkum) Whynot; brother Eugene; sister-in-law Dawn, sisters Dorothy, Pearl, Margie and Marilyn.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her son, Edward (Ted) Fairbanks of Sims Settlement; her daughter, Laura (Foley) Tsimiklis of Halifax; her cherished grandchildren, Keeley Cook, Dimitri and Tia Tsimiklis; and great-granddaughter, Zoey Cook; along with her brothers Roy (Darlene), East Chester, Robert (Sandra) Marriotts Cove; Sisters Francis Zinck, East, River, Bernice Corkum, Chester; along with her many treasured nieces and nephews.
Liz was a devoted hairdresser for over 40 years. She proudly owned and operated her own business before later moving into barbering prior to her retirement. Through her talent and dedication, she truly made the world a prettier place.
Her family will forever cherish memories of her wonderful Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners, and her birthday chocolate cakes—always especially delicious—were a highlight of every celebration.
Above all, Liz had a deep and abiding love for her children, grandchildren, and extended family. They were her greatest priority and her proudest joy.
Family would like to thank the staff at Stonemount retirement home for their kindness and patience, the palliative care team for recognizing her needs and providing comfort and support and the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the South Shore Regional Hospital for making mom as comfortable as possible in her final days.
Donations in Liz’s memory can be made to the South Shore Hospice and Palliative Care Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
A public Graveside service for Liz will be held Saturday June 6th, 2026, in Pine Hill Cemetery, 33 Golf Course Rd., Chester, beginning at 11 AM. Pastor Dan Greene officiating.
