Obituary of Joan Marcella Regimbal
We are saddened to share the sudden loss of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and so much more, Joan Regimbal. Joan passed away at South Shore Regional Hospital, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. It is difficult to sum up in a few short paragraphs a well-lived life such as Joan’s but we will try our best.
Above all else, Joan loved people. Whether it was her immediate, extended or chosen family, friends new or old, she showered all of those lucky enough to be in her orbit with unconditional love and generosity. Joan was the true matriarch and glue of the Regimbal family, loving nothing more in life than spending time with her husband Dan, raising their four children, Mark (Gillian), Joanne (Shawn), Malinda (Aidan), and Ellen (Tristan) and most recently, getting to watch her eight beautiful grandsons, Archer, Ripley, Wyatt, Max, Thomson, Cole, Zachary, and James, grow up before her eyes.
Not to be overshadowed by her personal life, Joan took so much pride in her various professional roles over her career. She felt it was a great privilege to have fulfilling employment, enjoying many decades in Health Care Management, retiring from her position as Executive Director of Lunenburg County Home Support in 2019.
Joan was an active lifelong member of the Catholic Church and had shared her deep faith with her parents and siblings whom she greatly cherished. She is survived by siblings Mary, Elaine, Paul, and Monica and was predeceased by sister Betty and parents Margaret and John MacCormack.
No matter how busy life got for Joan, she always made time for FUN. She was a lover of live music, good food, great (and some not-so-great) movies, and travelling with her family and friends. She was a fierce competitor at the bridge table and an avid baker and cook, always showing her love for those around her with food made from the heart. Joan’s laugh lit up a room and her ability to find the humour in everyday life and to radiate compassion touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and remembered by all.
We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all those who have sent messages of love and appreciation of our sweet Joan. At Joan’s request, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or a charity of choice.
Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 123 Pleasant Street, Bridgewater, with reception to follow at the Parish Hall.
May God bless and keep her.
