Obituary of Nora Mary Whynot

 

WHYNOT, Nora M. - passed away suddenly in the South Shore Regional Hospital on April 17, 2026. Born in Amherst she was the daughter of the late Thaddius “Thaddie” and Dora (Laurette) Gould.

Nora was a graduate of Saint Charles Business School in Amherst. For most of her married life she was a stay-at-home mom and housewife. She loved to knit, read, do jigsaw puzzles, woodworking, painting and working in her gardens. She was a bank manager’s wife and lived in New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Ontario. Mom enjoyed spending time with her close and extended family; she also had some dear friends that she enjoyed spending time visiting. Mom enjoyed spending time with her husband, Vern, travelling the ATV trails in the area. She was an active member of the ATV club for many years.

Nora is survived by sons, Peter (Keith) Whynot, Kevin (Christie) Whynot; grandson, Blake (Alysha) Whynot; special niece, Doris Ann MacKenzie, and several other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband of 61 years Vernon Lester Whynot;  her siblings, Eileen, Marguerite, Mae, Beatrice, (Pet) Cyrus (Bubbles).

Special thanks to the care that was provided to Mom by the South Shore Regional Hospital - ICU.

Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, #4895 Highway 10, New Germany. At Mom’s request there will be no visitation or service.
