As neighbors growing up together in the 1950'sand 60's in the old West End of Halifax,we were all fortunate to have been graced by the warm,good natured ,fun loving and friendly presence of Michael, his mother Francis, his brother Derek and his sister Mary Lou . My brother Pat started school with Michael and they continued to be schoolmates for the next fifteen years. Michael's good humor, intelligence ,kindness and friendly nature obviously served him and others very well throughout his rich journey through life as a devoted and loving husband and father and also in his professional career. At this time we would like to extend our condolences to all of the Johnston family. We feel grateful for having had such wonderful friends and neighbors for such a long time. A true gentleman whose compassion, kindness and faith leaves a lasting memory and I will always cherish is warm smile and handshake or wave as we went about our daily lives out and about in Chester Andrew always knew our son was in a good place whenever he stayed over at his home,,which was often.
