Obituary of Irene Gertrude Rafuse

RAFUSE (Zinck), Irene – With freshly painted lavender nails and surrounded by the love of family, Irene peacefully passed away on Thursday June 11, 2026, at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
 

For the last 7 years, Irene resided at Harbour View Haven, Lunenburg, where she made countless new friendships and memories with both residents and staff. Upon entering the 1st floor, you could always count on a “Hello” from Irene as this is where she loved to sit to have chats and do her beautiful diamond art.

Irene is predeceased by her parents, Earl and Betty (McCarthy) Beeler and her husband, Douglas. She is survived by her daughters, Shelley Kilfoy and Michelle (Frank) Hanhams; sons, Dougie, Dwight (Stacey) and Donnie (Jacqueline); along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.
 

The family would like to say a huge Thank-You to the staff at Harbourview Haven... each one of you held a special place in Irene's heart. Also, thank you to the nurses and doctors at the South Shore Regional, Bridgewater.
 

As per Irene’s wishes there will be no visitation or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to S.H.A.I.D.Tree Animal Shelter, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Nova Scotia Diabetes Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.

Gone from our sight, but not from our hearts ... Rest peacefully
