Obituary of James "Jimmy" Allen Murray

September 22, 1956 - July 5, 2026

It is with a tremendous sense of loss that the family of James “Jimmy” Murray share the news of his sudden passing on July 5, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Jimmy was the youngest child of William “Bill” and Doris (MacIntosh) Murray and spent most of his life in Bridgewater. His teen years were spent in Shelburne, living with his Uncle Donnie, Aunt Louise and their children Bill, Sara and Jennie, following the death of his parents. No matter where he went, Jimmy made many connections and friends.

He cherished spending time with family and friends, especially travelling, days on the water, Thursday evenings in the garage, and drop-in visits at the lot. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, time at camp, a sunny day at the beach, and tending his vegetable garden. In recent years, he was a dedicated member and volunteer with the LaHave River Salmon Association.

Jimmy was a heavy-duty mechanic by trade. His skills made him a reliable and beloved ‘Mr. Fix-it’. Those skills were most recently used to build a beautiful screen room that he was looking forward to enjoying at the lot this summer.

Jimmy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Debbie (Dalziel), his girls, Alyson (Neel Patel) Murray and Laura (Cody) Scott, and the most recent light of his life, his granddaughter, Quinn Scott, whom he adored. Also left to mourn are his sister, Cathie (Blair) Daniels; sister-in-law, Judy (Bob) Knowlton; brother-in-law, Robert Ostrander, his niece, nephews, and special cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David; sister, Barbie Ostrander; and mother-in-law, Frances Dalziel.

The family would like to invite those wishing to remember and celebrate Jimmy’s life to a Drop-In Reception in Celebration at C.F. Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York St., Bridgewater, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Following the reception, a Private Burial will be held for immediate family and close loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LaHave River Salmon Association by emailing them at info@lahaveriversalmon.ca, or to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
