Obituary of Reginald Earl Nauss

Reginald “Reggie” Earl Nauss Jr. - passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, NS, where he was loved and cared for by all staff and nurses.

Reggie was born in Conquerall Mills on June 27, 1948, and was the oldest son of Reginald and Helen (Zwicker) Nauss. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Reggie loved him for his smart wit, how humble he was, and for being a hard worker – always giving 100% commitment to whatever he set out to do. Dad’s words were always “don’t worry, we will find a way”.

Reggie worked for over 40 years for Rafuse Equipment where he met countless people that he made lasting friendships with through co-workers, clients at the front counter, and on the road. After a brief retirement, he worked part-time for Gow’s Home Hardware, Bridgewater.

Reggie cherished his family, especially his wife, Sylvia, as they shared 61 wonderful years together. The highlight of his day was starting with a Tim’s coffee with her in the morning, and again in the evening to end his day.

Left behind to cherish Reggie’s memory are his wife, Sylvia; daughter, Nicole (Peter); sisters, Betty (Pat), Joan (David); and brother, Vernon (Cathy); as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by parents, Regnald and Helen, as well as brothers, Gordon and Gary.

The family would like to thank the Rosedale Home for being the “home away from home” for Reggie for the past 3 years. Thank you for loving and caring for Dad like he was your own. Your kind hearts brought so much joy to our lives every single day – even in the final hours.

A service to celebrate Reggie’s life will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater, followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery, Upper Northfield. Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. Friends and family are invited to a reception at the Upper Northfield Community Hall, 852 Cross Road, Upper Northfield, following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rosedale Home for Special care or a charity of choice.
