Beryl Arlen Selig
September 1st, 1933 - August 17th, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of Beryl Selig announced her peaceful passing at the age of 92 on August 17th with her family by her side. At the North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia N.S.
Born in Caledonia, N.S. to the late Bertha (McNiel) and Everette Martin, she was the youngest of three girls. She spent her childhood living in Kempt, enjoying the animals on the farm. Most of her younger days were working alongside her mom with yardwork, gardening and various household chores. She started her working career at 15 years old with her mom at Keji Lodge housekeeping and doing odd jobs.
Beryl met the first love of her life Robert Selig when she was 15 years old, he was tall, dark, and handsome, and caught her eye as she always told us grandkids. They married April 7th, 1952, and welcomed 4 beautiful children. Throughout the years they enjoyed many days working in their craft shop creating different items to sell at the local markets. Also working alongside each other in the family business of Robert B. Selig Plumbing & Heating.
When Robert joined the North Queens Fire Department, Beryl shortly followed by joining the Ladies Auxiliary. She was an active member for over 25 years and has since been an honorary member. When Robert passed away in 1987, Beryl went on and started working at Kejimkujik National Park, then retired from there in 1998.
In 1997 she got together with the second love of her life Hubert Wareham, where they spent 25 years of their lives enjoying family life. Going down to Carolyn and Myles’ for tea and cookies every Tuesday with her two sisters. She would give him a pattern of a wooden craft she wanted to make, and he would make sure she got at least five of them. They enjoyed travelling in the motor home going to different music events in the province. Finally setting up camp in New Canada to take in a lot of the blue grass music shows.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, N.S. There will be a small gathering at the North Queens Firehall from 1-3pm on Tuesday September 1st, 2026. A family graveside service will take place at a later Date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Queens Fire Association or the North Queens Nursing Home Residents Activity Fund. Online Condolences may be made to sweenysfuneralhome.com
