Barbara enjoyed going for drives and visiting her many friends and family. She was a member of Barss Corner Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir and ladies auxiliary. She was a life member and past executive of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102, New Germany. Barbara was involved in any activity in which her daughters participated, raising money and contributing ideas whenever necessary. She served as a community member of the former New Germany Rural High School Board of Trustees and School Advisory Council and was active in the NGRHS Alumni Association for many years. Over the years, she canvassed in her community and co-ordinated canvassing extensively through northern Lunenburg County for The Arthritis Society, helping to raise thousands of dollars. She won several community awards recognizing her volunteer contributions for the many different groups and organizations. Surviving are her husband, Richard; daughters, Nena Snyder, Toronto; Julie Snyder, Calgary; Angela Snyder (Galen Colp), Bridgewater; sister, Lorna (Horton) Trethewey, Middle Sackville; brothers, Ronald (Peggy) Chase, Alan (Janice) Chase, all of Barss Corner; many nieces and nephews.
