Obituary of Sadie MacLean

Sadie Matilda MacLaren 90, of Pine View Apartments, Bridgewater, formerly of Crousetown, Lunenburg County, died June 19, 2001 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born June 5, 1911, in Cherry Hill, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mamie Gray. In her teen years, she worked as head cook at the Melrose Inn, Massachusetts. Years alter she had the same position at the Mersey Restaurant, Brooklyn, Queens County. For many years she served her church as a member of the UCW at St. Andrew’s United Church, Crousetown. Surviving are her daughter Beverly (Val), Toronto; son Robert (Carole), Bridgewater; sisters, Nellie Cameron, Stellarton; Viola Williams, Brooklyn; Madge Dalton, West Berlin; grandchildren, David and Blair MacLaren; step-grandchildren, Lynn Schwartz and Todd Langille; including five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Orris, sisters, Bessie Gray and Daisy Clark; brothers William, John, Grafton, and Elmer. Visitation will be held today 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Funeral service Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Ivan Norton and Rev. Karen Ohrt officiating, followed immediately by a reception for family and friends at 12 Central Street, Bridgewater. A private family interment service will be held in St. Andrew’s United Church Cemetery, Crousetown. Family flowers only. Donations in Sadie’s memory may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation, Hillside Pines; St. Andrew’s United Church or a charity of choice.
