Obituary of Clarence Robert MacKay

of Clarence "Tammie" Robert MacKay 59, of Pinehurst, Lunenburg County, passed away July 23, 2008 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Upper Northfield, he was a son of Pauline (Oickle) MacKay, New Germany and the late Robert MacKay. He was employed with the Department of Transportation. He was an avid lover of hunting and salmon fishing. He was a very avid bluegrass musician, well known across the Maritimes for his distinct voice and his guitar playing. He was a member of the Shady Grove Bluegrass band for well over 15 years. He is survive by his wife, the former Betty Ann (Wile); son, Greg (Natasha), Wentzell Lake; brother, Dale (Betty Lou), Bridgewater; sister, Judy (Tom) Fahey, Upper Northfield; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday from 7 to 9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 2pm Monday in Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Upper Northfield, Rev Willis Ott officiating. Private family burial will follow in the Pinehurst Community Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Pinehurst Community Hall. Family flowers only. In lieu is flowers, memorial donation may be made to the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Victorian Order of Nurses, Lunenburg County Branch or the charity of your choice.
