Obituary of Frances Geraldine Crouse

 

CROUSE, Frances Geraldine – Age 89, Wentzell Lake, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Frances, the eldest of seven children was born on January 6, 1934, to the late Roland “Budd” and Ruth (Deamone) Durling in Simpsons Corner.

After graduating from Simpsons Corner High School, Frances worked at many landmark locations in Lunenburg County including Sperry’s Restaurant, Lunenburg Fish Plant, Barry’s Red & White, and the New Germany Fresh Mart. She relocated from Simpsons Corner to New Germany, marrying her sweetheart Douglas Crouse in April 1963. They were happily married for more than 50 years until Douglas’s passing on March 29, 2017.

Frances had a wonderful sense of humor and truly enjoyed life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She loved the outdoors, camping at Lake George, Green Bay, LaHave River Campground and Wentzell’s Lake. She had a passion for music, outdoor concerts, and musical jams; was an exceptional cook and baker, known for her famous chowders, hash, and apple pies; loved knitting, was a strategic crib player and loved skunking opponents. She was an extremely kind, generous, and caring person who continuously cared for everyone around her, always surrounding herself with her friends and family.

She is remembered fondly as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by her son, Jeff (Lisa); grandson, Josh (Emily); sisters, Betty (George), Marie (Lloyd); brothers, Raymond (Beatrice), Donnie (Linda). Besides her parents, and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Bernie (Shirley), and Roger.

By personal request, there will be no visitation or service. No flowers please, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Rosedale Home for Special Care.
