Obituary of Diane Florence Robar

ROBAR, Diane Florence – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter and best friend, in her 55th year, on Thursday, October 26, 2023, holding the same hand she has held since grade 10, that of her husband Arden.

Diane was born March 29, 1968, to Kathleen (Joudrey) Haines and the late Stanley Haines. Diane grew up on the family homestead with her twin sister and partner in crime, always surrounded by animals.

Her love for animals, in particular horses, led her to spend many years as a Director of the Western Nova Scotia Draft Horse Association. Diane also spent most of her adult life showing her beloved draft horses as well as pulling them and cheering on her favourite teamster, Arden. If Diane was having a hard day guaranteed you could find her either in the barn or talking to one of the many horses on the family farm. Even while working in the wreath room seasonally at DeLong’s Farms, Barss Corner, she would often be over-heard talking about her horses to someone. To know Diane, you would know that there were two things that meant the most to her, her horses, and her family, which she was so proud of.

Diane is survived by her husband, Arden, Farmington; two children, Josh (Shannon), North River; Katlyne, Farmington; her mother, Kathleen Haines (Arthur Salsman), Berwick; twin sister, Donna (Carl) Varner, Terrance Bay; mother and father in-law, Raymond and Marlene Robar, Cherryfield; as well as her sister-in-law, Annette (Donnie) Hatt, Beech Hill; along with her beloved grandchildren, Abigail, Collin, Noelle, Curtis and Melissa. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Samantha (Liam), Lucas, Megan, Shawna, Hudson, Michelle (Ian) and Matthew.

Diane was predeceased by her father, Stanely Haines; brother in-law, Andrew Robar;  grandparents, Muriel and Russell Haines, Vernon and Florence Joudrey;  uncles, Edmond Haines, Clinton Haines and aunt, Rosamond MacKay.

We love you Mom, and you are free to scoot with Tom and Sam forever.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 1. 2023 in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 4895 Highway 10, New Germany and where memorial service will be 2:30 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2023. Rev. Randy Hiltz officiating with a private family interment to follow in Barss Corner Community Cemetery, Barss Corner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Nova Scotia Draft Horse Association in Diane’s name, so her love of horses can continue on to others.
