Obituary of Mervin Arthur Fraser

FRASER, Mervin Arthur - 72, of Dayspring, died March 10, 2024 at the QEII Health Centre ICU due to post-op complications following a surgery, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 15, 1952, to Harry and Bernice Fraser of Dayspring.  Mervin attended vocational school in Bridgewater where he went on to his life-long passion of electronics and hydraulics on boats. Mervin was well loved by the fishing community who still relied on him for their boating needs. He married Shirley (Cross) on February 11, 1984 and they had two children, Kalip and Kaitlin. He worked as a Service Technician for Stenpro for many years. After his retirement from Michelin as a contractor, he continued to work for himself. He was an avid card player, and it was his absolute favorite way to pass time with family and friends.

The most important part of Mervin’s life was his family, especially his grandchildren who were the absolute light of his life. Mervin is survived by his wife, Shirley (Cross); his children, Kalip (known to Dad as “Willy”) (Courtney) and Kaitlin; his grandchildren, Keyla-Anne and Charles; his sisters, Marie (James) and Marjorie (Dennis); his cousin, Richard (Louise), and numerous other cousins; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Harry, his mother, Bernice (Veinot), and his brother, Milton.

Funeral services will be 1 pm on March 15, 2024, at the Bridgewater Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Kenny officiating.  A reception with refreshments will be offered at the Bridgewater Baptist Church following the service. Honorary urn bearers will be Charles Fraser and Keyla-Anne Fraser-West.

Memorial donations may be made to the education funds of his beloved grandchildren, Keyla-Anne and Charles.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater, where online condolences may be made at www.sweenysfuneralhome.com
