Obituary of Roderick Wilfred Sinclair Acker

ACKER, Roderick “Roddy” Wilfred Sinclair – Age 77, of North River, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Ray and Roseanna (Robar) Acker.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North River. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and enjoyed spending time with his family and always lending a helping hand to his friends and family. He worked at Bowater Mersey for his working career.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Elaine Shirley (Robar) Acker; daughter, Margo Acker, North River; son, Richie Haines (Della), Cornwall; Bompy will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Nathan (Tanya), Tristan (Jon), Tara, Jeremy (Courtney), Morgan, Heidi and Haley and many great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey (Kenneth) Banks, Wilmot; brother, Lawrence (Marilyn) Acker, Meadowvale; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Joan Haines; sisters, Geraldine Simpson, Yvonne “Leona” Acker and Charlotte Acker; brothers, Larry Acker and Allen Acker.

No visitation at the funeral home by request. Service of Remembrance will be held, 2 p.m., Friday, August 18 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North River. Rev. David Whynot officiating. Interment will be at a later date. No flowers please, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or Canadian Cancer Society.
