The International Crisis and the Effects on End of Life Services

Over the past few weeks we have witnessed many changes that have affected the supply and demand of the services that we all need and require. One of the biggest concerns is the increasing costs of goods and services; the funeral services sector has not escaped the continued rise in costs of the services we provide. Recently, the casket and urn suppliers along with our crematorium provider, have induced surcharges and increased fees to funeral homes to compensate for these rising costs. We honor and appreciate each and every family that we have served and will continue to serve with our highest level of professional service. We have done our utmost best to absorb these increased costs in the past to help and assist each family in controlling overall expenses.

We want every family who experiences a loss to know that C.F. Sweeny's Funeral Homes have not and will not be increasing our professional services fees during these difficult times; however, we are not able to continue to absorb the increases we have suffered from our suppliers. We want our families to know that any increases you experience is a direct result of the escalating fees from our suppliers and not from the funeral home. Our professional licensed staff are available for any questions or concerns you may have.

Covid-19 Pandemic Guidelines & Information

Covid-19 has created a new way of doing things for most of us.

Nova Scotia Public Health recommends that masks should still be worn in public places - although it is not mandatory, we encourage this practise.

Commemorating 105 years of Dedicated Service

We are appreciative to have been providing professional services, guidance and assistance to families who are in need during the most difficult event in life, since 1917.  As we move into a evolving society where needs and service requirements change, we want to make sure that Sweeny's Funeral Home continues to provide the service that our families have come to expect. We work with each family making sure that their wishes and desires are met and that we are able to give back to our families - memories to cherish - when it comes to their reflection back on the memorialization of their loved one.

As we strive to provide services that will benefit the families that call on our staff to assist them in a difficult time, we are very pleased to partner with Forget Me Not Ceremonies.  This is an on-line streaming service that will remove the worry, cost and concern about getting family members home with geographical challenges and will allow them to be part of the live service held locally.

The Value of Live Streaming

Live Streaming a memorial service is about uniting all who brought value to someone’s life. It allows people to pay their respects and show support regardless of life’s obstacles such as finances, travel, age, or health.

Live streaming can bring new moments to light and renew old memories as guests are encouraged to share their own photos and stories – which we keep and store for you.

From connections so small that no one knew about them to the closest connections of all, everyone should have the opportunity to pay respects to a lost loved one, a dear friend, a colleague, or an acquaintance.

To preserve the moments and memories, Forget Me Not Ceremonies will give you the opportunity to put all these treasures into a photobook … to keep and cherish. Please ask our knowledgeable Directors about this service and how we can make sure all your families and friends can be part of their event - virtually!
