Dear Harry, Thelma, Tina, Charles and family it is with great sadness that I again am looking at the loss of another childhood friend that I did not have the opportunity too spend more time with and see more of in these last years. As we grow older we forget to really look for and communicate with those we grew up with and I guess that is because we all have such busy lives with working and trying to support our growing families and all the other time consuming things we need to do and forget to take the time to again touch base with all those great friends we had and Brian was a wonderfull, funfilled ,active and larger then life guy. I remember when we were growing up and all our fun we had on Cook's hill as we kids called it and the great climbing and sometimes dangerous rock throwing games we played with me coming home with a rock sticking out of my head and my father having to remove it with his set of pliers .The brook was also a favourite hang out with many sometimes accidental but mostly horsing around soakings in the water behind my parents home. I am truly sorry for Brian's untimely and sudden departure and I will always remember his great smile and the laughter and fun we had climbing to the top of a tree and making it swing as far as we could just hoping it didn't break and send us crashing to the ground which never did happen thanks to who ever above was watching over us. I know I will someday see Brian again and I'm sure if there is a big hill a brook or a high tree we will resume our childhood feats and again we will be fearless and carry on with our friendship again. Rest in peace Brian and may you all remember the great times that we all spent with him ! Ralph and family

I'm not sure if you knew, but when Dad died, Brian wrote a heartfelt letter to Mom that gave her great comfort. She was thrilled that Brian took the time to share his feelings with her.

To the Cook family,
We are so sorry for your loss. It is shared by many. I can't believe my lifelong friend is gone.
I will always be grateful for the memories that enriched my life but sad for the conversations that will forever remain unspoken.
Brian was a kind, gentle, generous and loyal friend. He would have liked the following connection:
Of the many things we had in common one in particular was appreciation for the genius of The Beatles. My daughter Jenn and I have been fortunate to see Paul McCartney live in concert many times. In each concert he does a tribute to John and George which includes this message to the crowd: "Take every opportunity to tell those you love how you feel because you never know when they will no longer be here."
Thank you, Brian for so many things. I wish we could do it all over again.
And I wish I was telling you this in person...
I'll miss you, my friend.
Peace and love,
Paul and Jenn Nauss
