Obituary of Shirley Roxie Robar

ROBAR, Shirley Roxie – Age 82, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., formerly of North River, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, she was the daughter of the late James and Florence (Acker) Robar.

As a young lady she went to Bridgewater and worked at the Radio Café and Eisener’s Restaurants, Bridgewater and she managed a ladies clothing shop “The Smart Shoppe”, owned by Gladys Swim; she was also later employed by Kirk Christmas Trees and Fred DeMone’s General Store, Meisners Section. During the summers of her youth, she enjoyed spending time at the Bigg’s Farm, Wolfville.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her niece, Heather Wile and nephew, Linwood Robar; great nieces, Ashley Wile, Mindy Robar and great-nephew, Garret Robar; great-great nephews, Izaak, Zacari and Noah. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Basil (Beatrice) Robar and her beloved, Basil Hirtle.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Service of Remembrance will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 6 in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bridgewater. Rev. Paul Jensen officiating. Flowers accepted or memorial donations may be made to IWK Children’s Hospital, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, North River, or Chrones and Colitis Foundation. Interment to follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, North River.
